Trend Micro has launched a new campaign – ‘License to L.O.V.E. - with which it aims to raise awareness of technology crime by first educating and invigorating its channel partners.

The new campaign adopts a secret agent theme to highlight the ever so shady world of malware, the importance of technology security and, crucially, to highlight the products that Trend Micro has been designed to counteract such threats. The acronym L.O.V.E. stands for Legal Organized Virus Elimination.

Trend Micro will use this scheme to educate its reseller channel about evolving threats, as well as highlighting its new products and services, and offering promotional incentives.

According to Trend’s own research, in recent months virus activity has surged to its highest level in almost two years. Trend has responded to this growing threat by carrying out research and development, and subsequently launching a new portfolio of technology security applications.

Trend Micro recently released three new anti-spyware solutions, which detect and remove evasive spyware and grayware using technology brought to Trend Micro through its acquisition of anti-spyware specialist InterMute.

The company also acquired Kelkea, a leading authority on IP filtering and reputation services, to help combat the effect of spam today and evolving threats such as phishing and pharming. Trend Micro also has a ‘virus escalation service’, which enables clients to forward infected files to Trend Micro’s network of virus tracking laboratories spread across the globe, and receive feedback on the nature of these threat.

“Trend Micro is at the cutting edge of malware research and prevention,” commented Ghassan Lababidi, marketing manager of Trend Micro Middle East and Africa. “Our new secret-agent themed campaign highlights the company’s efforts to counteract all types of digital subterfuge, whether in the home, small to medium sized business or enterprise.”

The ‘License to L.O.V.E.’ campaign will feature on Trend Micro’s Gitex 2005 stand (in Hall 6 of this year’s Dubai show). There visitors will have the chance to trial the company’s new applications, as well play games and enter a competition to win a secret agent style Omega watch.
