Toshiba touts entertainment for less

Toshiba’s Computer Systems Division has launched the Satellite L10, a new entertainment notebook aimed squarely at cash-conscious consumers.

“When making a purchasing decision today, consumers are looking for great value without having to compromise on quality, style or feature set,” said Ahmed Khalil, Toshiba's general manager for Middle East and Africa. “With the Satellite L10 series Toshiba is setting a new standard in consumer value by combining high quality personal entertainment, an innovative mobile experience and leading design all at a fantastic price point.”

Available for just over a thousand US dollars, at $1,020, the L10 is targeted at users on a budget but who still demand a quality, entertainment ready device. This latest Satellite features a 15-inch display and is powered by Intel’s Celeron M processor. As this CPU is not a Pentium M model, the L10 cannot be branded an Intel ‘Centrino’ model, but the notebook is still capable of accessing wireless networks due to the dual ‘b’ and ‘g’ standard connectivity included on-board.

Optical storage is handled by an 8-speed Super Multi Drive, with which users can mix and burn multimedia content to CD or DVD, and when it comes to watching movies or listening to music the Satellite L10 is kitted out with SRS TruSurround technology and four CD/DVD playback buttons. Software wise, the L10 includes Microsoft’s Windows XP and OneNote software, plus Toshiba’s proprietary ConfigFree program can be used to identify and connect with Wi-Fi hotspots and to access and download content online.
