Ushna brings Indian flavours to Madinat

Madinat Jumeirah souk opened its latest restaurant offering, an Indian fusion restaurant called Ushna, at the end of January.

Ushna, meaning fire and heat, offers fusion food cooked with Indian spices mixed with Californian style and presented course by course rather than platter style. Chef Paul Kinny and his team have created a menu of Indian flavours presented in a western style.

An open kitchen presents food cooked on an Indian-style teppanyaki table and in the Tandoor oven. Quick lunches and late night tapas are also served from the open kitchen stoves and grills. An alternative India-style afternoon tea is also on the menu, with a private selection of fine regional Indian teas. In addition, the restaurant’s bar offers selected international wines and beers and a collection of 30 different types of vodka.

The new restaurant is located in the heart of Madinat Jumeriah Souk, overlooking canals and waterways, and offers 120 covers, including 80 seats inside and 40 outside on the terrace. Designed by architects LW Designs, from a concept created by Ahmed Ramdan of Roya International Hospitality, the outlet is furnished with white teak wood flooring and a ceiling with a lime finish. A large balcony overlooks the Burj Al Arab.
