Google follows Yahoo into TV territory

Google has followed search rival Yahoo’s lead by rolling out its own prototype TV search feature.

Google has followed search rival Yahoo’s lead by rolling out its own prototype TV search feature. Google Video is now available in beta form online.

This new search engine lets users search the text linked to TV shows, including news clips. Search results include program screenshots, though users are not able to play video clips due to rights issues.

Yahoo’s video search offering was initially introduced at the end of 2004 and incorporates BBC program content into its search results.
