HP makes Cisco Global Services grade

Networking giant Cisco has confirmed that HP is the first company to achieve its Global Certified Partner status. The deep alliance allows Cisco and HP to work together to deliver co-branded support services to help customers maintain their enterprise networks on a global scale.

Cisco launched its Global Services Alliance (GSA) programme in June 2004. Commenting at the time of launch, Paul Mountford, senior VP, Cisco worldwide channels, said: “The Global Services Alliance extends existing Cisco partner initiatives focused on creating global efficiency and consistency. This newest advance follows the recently announced Cisco Global Commerce Specialisation, which recognises partners that have a global presence and proven capability in providing consistent commerce and product logistics services to global customers.”

To qualify for Cisco’s newest programme, partners must possess multi-national certification in two of Cisco’s three multiple country regions — namely EMEA, AsiaPac and Americas International. GSA partners must also hold Gold Certified Partner status in the US and Japan, and be prepared to invest in linking their internal customer support systems with Cisco’s to create an integrated services offering.

HP holds Cisco Gold Certified Partner status in 38 countries across the globe and boasts some 1,400 Cisco-certified HP professionals worldwide. Aimed at enterprise customers, the alliance aims to address the full lifecycle of customer service requirements from planning through to deployment, management and support while providing greater consistency.

“HP and Cisco understand that business success depends on proactive network management,” said Husam Eldin, network solutions group manager at HP Middle East. “Networks are a key part of the broader IT infrastructure and the effectiveness of a customer’s network depends on a service provider’s knowledge of that environment. This is precisely the idea behind HP network support combined with Cisco services.”
