Cisco teaching at the Academy
Cisco training partner Synergy Professional Services has tied up with Dubai based Etisalat Academy. The Academy will provide the UAE’s channel and end-users with basic and intermediate courses on Cisco technology, and plans to expand its operations into Saudi over the next six months.
Cisco training partner Synergy Professional Services (SPS) has added another educational establishment to its EMEA partner ranks and tied up with Dubai based Etisalat Academy. The Academy will provide the UAE’s channel and end-users with basic and intermediate courses on Cisco technology, and plans to expand its operations into Saudi over the next six months.
“Our agreement with Etisalat Academy is the perfect synergy,” said Melad Ghabrial, president and CEO at SPS. “They will offer Cisco education to corporates and systems integrators, and then we will step in to provide more advanced courses to the Academy’s graduates.”
The deal allows Etisalat Academy access to the range of training and teaching facilities owned by SPS, including its Dubai Internet City housed Remote Lab. The Lab is kitted out with over US$2m worth of equipment and is available to STS partners for hands-on training and practice. Etisalat Academy will make use of its own resources for basic courses, while using the Remote Lab for higher-level training.
“Cisco certified training is in high demand in this market and Synergy has the technical capabilities and depth of expertise in Cisco solutions that will allow us to provide customized training that address specific customer needs,” said Dr. Doa'a Fares, general manager of the Academy.
Through the deal, SPS and Etisalat Academy also hope to tap the lucrative IT market in Saudi Arabia. The two companies are taking steps to establish a similar setup in the Kingdom, which Ghabrial believes should be in place by mid 2005. “At the moment the Academy is providing services to Saudi customers from Dubai but the management is in the process of creating their own facilities in Saudi,” he added.
Headquartered in Dubai, SPS has over 20 training partners throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. SPS provides consultancy and high-end training in a variety of information and communication technology (ICT) fields. SPS provides ICT certification training offering in the Middle East for vendors including Microsoft, Nortel and Oracle, and the company claims to have the highest number of vendor certified professionals, the broadest range of ICT service offerings and the widest geographic coverage of any ICT training provider in the region.
