UAE and India exports remain high

Exports from India to the UAE surge in 2004.

The UAE was the top regional destination for electronic and computer software exports from India for 2004.

“In total, exports of electronics and software from India to the UAE during the year 2003-04 is estimated to be $149 million [Dh547 million], compared to $102 million the previous year a growth rate of 46%,” said Kamal Vachani, regional director of the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council, under the jurisdiction of India’s Department of Information Technology.

According to reports, for the year ended 2003-04, exports of electronic goods from India to the UAE totalled $100 million (Dh367 million), up 72% over the preceding year, when exports totalled $58.11 million (Dh213 million). Similarly, exports of software and services also registered growth of 7.11% in 2003-04, compared to 2002-03.
