Abu Dhabi welcomes Emirates Pearl project

Abu Dhabi jumps on the megaproject bandwagon.

Abu Dhabi is building a massive residential and commercial project called the Emirates Pearl. The US$9.5 billion project will be constructed on an island connected to the emirate via a bridge.

The project is being undertaken by Malaysia-based BBM, Al Ain-based Al Rayan Investment and Abu Dhabi-based National Company for Property Investment.

The entire project will be 5 million square metres and will include a luxury hotel, hospitals, university and family entertaining facilities.

Work on the new city will begin early in 2005.
