snom scouts for focused partners

snom, a German developer and manufacturer of voice over IP (VoIP) telephones and software, is cranking up its efforts to recruit distributors and resellers worldwide. Cracking the emerging Middle East market for VoIP hardware and software features prominently on snom’s agenda.

“The demand for VoIP applications here in the Middle East is great and a market niche has emerged for products that supplement the Cisco spectrum,” says Denis Pechnov, spokesperson at Dubai-based systems integrator Olivercom, a snom partner in the region. “We are reckoning on a market share of up to 15% for snom.”

snom is bracing itself for an anticipated worldwide boom in demand for VoIP solutions and wants a global channel infrastructure to match its ambition. Routing the bulk of its sales through distribution partners, snom is starting to see its solutions permeate down from the business sector into the mass-market segment as well.

Snom was founded in 1996 and now offers a range of VoIP products specifically based on session internet protocol (SIP). The company aims to produce state-of-the art and affordable VoIP phones. Snom also offer a SIP-based soft PBX to provide interoperable solutions to customers.

The prospect of deregulation in the Middle East telecoms market is a driving factor behind snom’s focus on the region. Omnilyne, snom’s distributor in South Africa, has already started a marketing campaign to capitalise on deregulation in the country.

“We are looking at selling several thousand apparatus in 2005,” forecasts Omnilyne’s CEO Greg Daus. “With the high product quality and the excellent partner support this is a perfectly realistic prediction.”

snom will be hoping that Middle East telecoms deregulation will increase interest levels in VoIP solutions across the region.
