Dubai’s media professionals team up to create DMC film
Dubai Media City has rounded up some of the city’s media professionals to produce a corporate film on the free zone. The film was shot on the Sony High Definition (HD) camera.
Dubai Media City has rounded up some of the city’s media professionals to produce a corporate film on the free zone, its culture and how businesses collaborate to create art. The film was shot on the Sony High Definition (HD) camera.
“This format is beautiful,” says Dhruv Dhawan, director of the film. “The clarity is great; the picture is untouchable.”
Dhawan has put together a montage that cuts between different media professionals and the tools they use. “I’m trying to depict the culture here through an energetic montage. Media is about the people and the machinery they use. Instead of cluttering them all up in one frame, we thought of going with a montage, where we cut between the people and their tools. Craig [the cameraman] and I have also worked at creating depth in our pictures by getting people in the foreground and the background.”
The director, however, reiterates that the film is not as much about the tools or media creations as it is ‘about the moment that people share in creation’.
“We are trying to show the whole synergy of creativity out here and how people are collaborating to create something. We are also trying to promote the importance of a cosmopolitan, multi-cultural society like we have at DMC in the context of globalisation and media ethics,” says Dhawan.
The creation of the film has also been a collaborative effort. Digital Asia Concept was named producer of the film, Craig Secker did the cinematography, Dhawan directed it, Raj Taru did the animation, AV Productions, which has an XPri, did the post production and Siddharth Mishra worked on the audio.
“This shared media experience, this creativity in which we were all connected ... that is what we have tried to convey. In other parts of the world, people compete while here people collaborate, and they have the freedom to create. We hope this film brings this message out,” adds Dhawan.
