Branson to confirm Dubai launch

Exclusive: Virgin Atlantic to make major Dubai announcement

Virgin Atlantic is expected to begin direct services from London to Dubai in December this year.

Arabian Business has learned that the company's chairman Sir Richard Branson will visit Dubai during the next three weeks to officially announce the plans.

The magazine first reported on Branson's Gulf plans earlier this year. It is understood that Virgin Atlantic is in the final stages of talks with Dubai's airport authorities, and will aim to begin direct flights in mid-December, just before the peak Christmas travel period.

The flights are likely to be priced lower than arch rivals British Airways and Emirates Airline, which also fly direct daily between Dubai and London.
