Turkish post facility installs 4K datacine

Leading Turkish post-production facility, Sinemaj, has expanded its business by installing Turkey’s first 4K datacine — DSX from Cintel.

Sinemaj, jointly owned and run by Imaj TV, a major production and post company in Turkey and Sinefekt Film, the country’s biggest film laboratory, has been providing film transfer and image manipulation services to the Turkish post market since 1997.

Cintel’s DSX will enable Sinemaj to expand its current range of film transfer services from SD, to HD video and data scanning up to 4K, and will fulfill the broad spectrum of commercial requirements needed in this ever expanding and competitive market.

The end user has been promised high quality images, regardless of the original film condition, as Sinemaj’s DSX is equipped with both Oliver and Grace technology. Oliver works to remove the effect of film surface damage such as dust and scratches, and Grace, to provide grain manipulation and removal in all formats. The combination promises Sinemaj the flexibility to provide images that have either the classic look (filmic), or the synthetic look of video.

“We are delighted to be a part of Sinemaj’s future plans,” says Simon Carter, director of sales at Cintel. “Sinemaj has chosen a next-generation datacine which has been designed specifically for commercial post production work — and they are in good company, as DSX has been the first choice of many of the world’s elite post production facilities since its launch in 2001.”
