Storing and keeping data safe is the name of the game for Dubai-based Pro Technology, as the distributor showcases storage and digital archiving solutions at Gitex, as well as premiering new launch products.

"Our main focus is on storage and digital archiving solutions, such as those used by banking, government and corporate clients," explains Jamal Maraqa, managing director, Pro Technology. "For instance, we are showing LaCie's multimedia storage solution, the BiggerDisk, for the first time in the Middle East. This desktop hard disk can store six terabytes of data and we have LaCie staff here to tell visitors to our stand all about it."

Maraqa claims Gitex is a great opportunity to market Pro Technology and to improve brand awareness of the company. In addition to its storage, archiving and disaster recovery solutions, the firm distributes Apple's popular iPod MP3 player throughout the UAE to retail stores such as Jacky’s and Jumbo Electronics. On the mobility side, Pro Technology offers a range of notebook carry cases and related accessories.

"The importance of Gitex is not only for firms from the Middle East, but it is very much an international event," comments Maraqa. "Our company takes a bigger stand each year because we realise its importance.” Pro Technology distributes products across the UAE, Gulf countries and some North African countries. It currently has branches in Sudan and Jordan, plus resellers in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
