Sheikh Mohammed presents Arabian Business Leadership award
H. M. King Mohammed VI of Morocco received a special leadership award from Arabian Business magazine at a gala ceremony last night.
The winners of the prestigious Arabian Business Awards were announced last night at a ceremony held in the Joharah Ballroom at the Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai. The event, which was attended by more than 700 of the Middle East’s leading business people, saw six awards presented in total, including a special Leadership Award for His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
H. H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, presented the award to His Excellency Driss Jettou, Prime Minister of Morocco, who collected the accolade on behalf of the King.
The Leadership Award recognises the programme of economic and political reform H.M. King Mohammed has instigated in Morocco. Past winners of the key award include H. M. King Abdullah II of Jordan in 2003 and Saudi Arabia’s His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal in 2002. Continued on page 3
The other awards presented at the high profile gathering, which was organised by ITP Business in association with i-mate™, included Company of the Year; Young Entrepreneur of the Year; Female Executive of the Year, Businessman of the Year and Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Company of the Year award went to UAE-based Ras Al Khaimah Ceramics, which beat off stiff competition from some of the region’s best-known property and construction conglomerates.
Meanwhile, Etisalat chairman Dr Mohammed Khalfan Al Kharbash collected the Award for Outstanding Social Responsibility on behalf of the telecoms operator. ADB’s Rizwan Rahim collected the Young Entrepreneur award, while other winners, including Businessman of the Year Nasser Al Kharafi and Female Executive of the Year Lubna Olayan, sent video recorded messages of thanks.
