Secure to do the job for the SMB 24/7
eHosting DataFort releases Secure in a bid to bring 24 hour, seven days a week security to the SMB at an affordable price.
eHosting DataFort has released Secure — a managed services appliance aimed at small businesses, which the vendor hopes will broaden its portfolio of outsourced services.
Secure combines antivirus and firewall capability in one appliance and initially will be available to companies within the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone. Over time, the vendor plans to roll out the product over a wider geographical area and also add intrusion prevention system (IPS), intrusion detection system (IDS) and antispam elements to the solution. The hardware part of the appliance is provided by SonicWall, while the software component comes from McAfee. Secure costs US$41 per month for a five user licence.
“Being in line with ever changing market trends, eHosting DataFort strives to provide solutions that are not only cost effective but also user friendly,” says Sameer Sadeh, CEO of eHosting DataFort “Secure is one such solution and provides a total security platform for small to medium sized businesses (SMBs). The 24 hour, seven days a week support allows companies to focus on their core business, leaving the IT needs to the specialists,” he explains.
The solution is designed to cater for small and medium sized businesses, from upwards of five users. “Security can be a hefty investment for the small to medium sized company,” says Maha Al Amir, marketing manager, eHosting DataFort. “With Secure we’ve managed to tailor it in an affordable yet effective manner,” she adds.
The vendor received requests from several small companies in the free zone and has responded by putting together the Secure package.
“With Secure, we will place an appliance in the offices of small businesses, which will be managed by eHosting DataFort,” says Deepak Verma, product manager, eHosting DataFort. “Our service level agreement (SLA) provides 24 hour phone support, as well as 24 hour on-site support for hardware problems,” he adds.
The vendor has also extended its non-security related out-sourced services with the launch of MyPortal and hosted e-mail.
“MyPortal allows people to build portals within minutes, which will give them dedicated space on the net and document management and scheduling tools,” says Deepak Verma, product manager, eHosting DataFort. “It is flexible, multifaceted and suitable for a variety of users from corporates to educational institutions, service providers and consumers,” he explains.
The hosted e-mail service will allow companies to have e-mail collaboration and communication features without building and managing their own e-mail server. The system is based on the Microsoft hosted messaging and collaboration solution.
