Collapse at Dubai airport

Workers trapped at site

Construction Week has learned that there has been an accident at the construction site of the US $4.1 billion Dubai airport expansion and upgrade project.

Dubai International Airport officials confirmed the report and have promised to issue a statement after learning all the relevant details.

It is understood that a concrete slab or section has collapsed trapping several workers under it. Dubai Civil Defence officials are at site in an effort to free the trapped workers.

It is not yet known how many workers have been trapped or if there have been any fatalities or serious injuries.
