Acer extends regional reach

Extended distribution agreements put in place as Acer eyes regional growth and plots product portfolio expansion.

Acer has appointed Dubai-based Empa to sell into the emerging markets of central Asia and has also extended its agreement with Almasa IT Distribution to cover countries in North Africa.

While the markets in central Asia represent future growth potential, Acer has not lost sight of the opportunities that exist in countries closer to its Jebel Ali regional base.

Acer recently outlined its vision to target the consumer and retail markets in Jordan following a year of strong growth in the Kingdom driven by sales into the corporate, government and education sectors.

“Jordan has a history of investing in the latest technology for its youth and public sector workforce,” said Philip Ashkar, sales and marketing director at Acer Middle East. “However, we also intend to focus on developing the consumer side of our operations.”

Acer plans to work closely with major retailers to promote its TravelMate notebook and Aspire PC ranges and bolster its second tier reseller network in Jordan.

Acer has also announced plans to diversify its product portfolio in the months ahead with digital cameras and LCD TVs next on the vendor’s agenda.
