Vision in focus

Cisco will outline its vision for the evolution of networking, including its continuing strong march into IP telephony, wireless connectivity and IP storage markets at this year’s Gitex.

Corporate visitors to Gitex will be given an insight into the networking giant’s Intelligent Information Network (IIN), developed to meet the challenges of industry both today and in future.

The Intelligent Information Network (IIN) is Cisco's technology vision and path from integrated networks for data, voice and video to intelligent networks that can adapt and co-operate with applications. The IIN will provide increased resilience and scalability for a company's business-critical communications infrastructure and provides managers with informed decision-making and increased flexibility to accept and benefit from change.

At Gitex, Cisco will be introducing its “Self-Defending Network”, a comprehensive system for protecting IT infrastructures. This will help companies to detect the ever increasing number of threats earlier and fully protect their networks against them. As well as the basic technologies, this system also uses new technologies such as security, memory networks, wireless LAN and IP communication.

Cisco will also be extending its leadership in offering intelligent networking capabilities for Storage Area Networking (SAN) customers by presenting the best of its own technology innovations as well as support for numerous industry standards to allow customers to build more secure, manageable, and scalable SANs.

“We are pleased to be able to share the latest international best practices and intelligence with regional business leaders through events such as Gitex,' said Ghazi Atallah, General Manager Cisco Systems Middle East.”The regional business community has a great opportunity for growth and the effective deployment of Internet business solutions can both accelerate business performance and identify and eradicate potential inefficiencies.”

Visitors to Cisco’s stand will be updated on Cisco’s latest innovations for enterprise, small and medium-sized companies and service providers in the routing, switching, network security, mobility and IP communications sectors. The latest switching models of both stackable and modular types will also be showcased at Gitex 2004.

In addition, Linksys, a division of Cisco, will be demonstrating business solutions for small and medium-sized companies such as non-managed switches, routers, storage products and VPN solutions. Through simulating a home environment at Cisco’s Gitex stand, Linksys will also be demonstrating adapters for wireless networking of home entertainment equipment such as MP3 players as well as displaying a wireless range of voice products, wireless IP cameras, and the wireless range extender and broadband solutions.
