Stonesoft partners with Beta IT for local penetration

Stonesoft has appointed local solutions provider and systems integrator, Beta IT, to help it penetrate key regional markets — banking, oil and gas and telecommunications.

The partnership will see Beta IT deploying Stonesoft’s network security products including its firewall, virtual private network (VPN) and intrusion protection system (IPS) — part of the StoneGate family.

“Organisations across the Middle East are becoming increasingly security-conscious as the incidents of attacks become an almost daily occurrence,” says Osama Al Daour, general manager at Beta IT. “Protecting important data on the network is now high on the agenda for IT decision-makers," he adds.

Beta IT was impressed with the high availability and scalability of Stonesoft’s offerings, combined with the technical and engineering support in place. “Stonesoft is the best in their field, and we wanted to be associated with a brand that has a strong history of delivering solutions to major international organisations,” says Al Daour. “[In addition] Stonesoft engineers are available to us when we need them.”

With over 80 employees, Beta IT, headquartered in Dubai, has offices in Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and Sudan and will implement security solutions for major enterprise businesses in the region. Its technicians have previously worked on deployments for Dubai Municipality, Ajman University and Juma Al Majid.

“Since establishing a direct presence in the Middle East market earlier this year, we have noticed a strong understanding about the importance of securing IT networks against attack,” says Jari Valvisto, vice president of Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and emerging markets at Stonesoft.
