Summer Surprise for Al Sondos

The Summer slowdown is no more for Le Meridien's downtown Al Sondos apartments, which saw 70%+ occupancy rates in June, July and August

Occupancy at Dubai’s two Al Sondos by Le Meridien properties was at near record levels during the normally quiet Summer months. According to Osama Mariam, director of sales and marketing at the two establishments, the three month long Dubai Summer Surprises event is largely responsible for this good news.

“Thanks to the exceptional organisation and marketing of Dubai Summer Surprises around the Gulf and farther afield, we can now count on good occupancies, especially from Arabia, which account for 65% of our total figures,” says Mariam.

Occupancy at Al Sondos Suites by Le Meridien stood at 75, 77 and 85% in June, July and August respectively. Occupancy at the Dar Al Sondos Hotel Apartments by Le Meridien was reported to be ‘more than 95% year round.’

These occupancy levels were not, it seems, achieved by cutting room rates. In June, the average room rate at Al Sondos Suites stood at Dhs480, rising to Dhs540 in July and a forecasted Dhs600 in August.

“Whether it is short-break tourism from the region, exhibition and conference business, corporate contracts or general visitor traffic, there seems to be no stopping Dubai now and this is before the current crop of projects materialise,” says Mariam.

“With the addition of The Palm and The World, as well as the Mall of the Emirates, Dubai will continue to flourish.”
