Printing giant hints at major launches

Lexmark is hinting at some surprises for Gitex attendees this year. However, the print solutions company says the 100,000 plus visitors expected through the doors will have to “wait and see” as to just what specific products will be on its stand at the show.

Lexmark is hinting at some surprises for Gitex attendees this year. However, the print solutions company says the 100,000 plus visitors expected through the doors will have to “wait and see” as to just what specific products will be on its stand at the show.

“We plan on displaying a wide range of our products at the show,” says Hilal Rashid, marketing communications manager for Lexmark in the Middle East.

“The diversity in our product offering is hard to match and people visiting the Lexmark stand at Gitex will see exactly what we mean. As for the specific products that are to be displayed on the stand, we prefer to have people wait and see,” he adds. “We might have some pleasant surprises to show our visitors.”

What will definitely be on display will be complete solutions that help customers with their printing needs, reflecting Lexmark’s scope as more than just a hardware vendor. “Our software and services are unmatched in the industry as we move away from the traditional printing focus into new, innovative fields within output management,” says Rashid.
As part of it solutions portfolio, Lexmark consultants can work with a customer to help reduce their information distribution costs.

“By understanding the customer’s print, copy, fax and scanning requirements and costs, Lexmark can help customers define a new asset mix and implementation strategy to help them achieve significant cost savings through asset consolidation and better management of specific business processes,” says Rashid.

To provide customers with a complete solution Lexmark offers software as well as hardware, with its flagship software package, MarkVision, a printing device management utility, and its Lexmark Document Solutions Suite and OptraForms, a document formatting system, being one of a number of products it has developed to give added value to customers.
Which is not to say that Lexmark has neglected the hardware side, with Rashid being proud to point out that the vendor is one of the few companies to still focus on the three core print technologies: inkjet, laser and dot-matrix.

“Naturally, each technology appeals to a different audience,” says Rashid.

“The home users are usually more interested in the inkjets due to the increasingly growing photo printing trend. The lasers, however, appeal more to organisations with larger printing requirements. Laser printers are excellent for “per-page” cost savings and larger scale printing needs. The 2004 product line continues Lexmark’s tradition of exceeding the demands of the most discerning consumers with robust products for professionals, photo printing technology for creative consumers and everybody in between,” he explains.
