Acer notebook offering expands in the Middle East
TravelMate 3200, Aspire 1680 likely to strengthen company’s position in key markets of Saudi Arabia and the UAE
Acer has launched two new Folio notebooks in the Middle East. The TravelMate 3200 designed for corporate professionals and the Aspire 1680 for consumers, will further strengthen the vendor’s position in the regional market.
The models combine the latest technological developments with stylish, practical and modern design characteristics aimed at enhancing the user’s experience.
Both notebooks are based on the Folio concept with the Aspire 1680 focusing on entertainment applications and the TravelMate 3200 featuring enhanced mobility and functionality.
“Acer is the number one vendor in Saudi Arabia for sales of notebook PCs and we are close to taking the top spot in the UAE,” says Philip Ashkar, sales and marketing director at Acer Computer Middle East. “These new models have been designed with the end user firmly in mind, and we expect to gain even further market share.”
Figures from analyst group IDC show that Acer is performing well in the region. In the Kingdom, Acer is the number one vendor taking 22.7% of the market share, while in the UAE the company is nearly tied for the number one position.
The Folio range was launched across the region last month, and the TravelMate 3200 and Aspire 1680 represent the second phase of Acer’s aggressive campaign to be the number one notebook vendor across the whole of the Middle East.
“Acer now has one of the largest offerings of notebook PCs available in the Middle East, catering for both the corporate and consumer market,” says Ashkar. “The Folio range combines sleek design and the latest technology, which we are sure will appeal to sophisticated buyers in the region.”
The TravelMate 3200 features Intel Centrino wireless technology, a 14.1” TFT LCD screen, integrated DVD-CD Rewriter drive, integrated gigabit-LAN for fast network connection, and weighs just 2kg.
For SOHO, SMB and home market users, the Aspire 1680 also offers superior Intel Centrino wireless performance, a 15.4” panoramic display and a DVD-dual drive.
Both have the user-friendly eManager interface, which allows people to optimise their power management as well as change their PC settings at the touch of a button, and an ATI Mobility Radeon graphics card.
Acer’s SignalUp technology which creates an omni-directional signal providing advanced connectivity, also comes as standard on both models.
