Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development & Employment Authority in the UAE, intends to focus on online employment resources for nationals at the forthcoming Gitex trade show. From its spot on the Dubai e-Government stand in hall eight, the organisation will be telling delegates about its website, careergate.ae, through which Tanmia offers a wide range of online services for job-seekers, training providers and employers.
Training institutes registered with Tanmia online can access and obtain updates on required courses, confirm enrolments of candidates and post course results. Employers can post vacancies, review and select candidate’s CVs by occupation, as well as make contact and invite candidates for interview. Employers can also communicate the outcome of an interview to a candidate, and deliver an employment agreement online.
According to Tanmia, its website is also a gateway for career information, advice, guidance, job search techniques, educational and occupational information. Its unique selling point is its ability to take users through a gateway of information suited to their personal needs and interests. This personalisation is reflected in the individual zones, through which users have to categorise themselves according to the eight different identities available on the website.
Established by a Presidential decree in November 1999, Tanmia is addressing the imbalance in the local labour market, and reducing its excessive dependency on an expatriate workforce. The organisation plays a coordinating role between national job seekers and employers in the private and government sectors. It also has responsibility for the overall policy of the authority and supervision of its implementation; operational and administrative labour market studies and analysis, career counselling and guidance to the national work force. It also supports small investment enterprises through the establishment of self-employment projects for national human resources.
Tanmia has also partnered with various employers to facilitate on-job training, work placement opportunities and vocational training for nationals.
