BenQ adds to Joybook range

BenQ has added to its line-up of Centrino-enabled notebooks with the launch of the Joybook 5100, which it is pitching as an entertainment device.

BenQ has added to its line-up of Centrino-enabled notebooks with the launch of the Joybook 5100, which it is pitching as an entertainment device.

The 5100 comes with an Intel Centrino Dothan CPU and a 32MB ATI Radeon graphics chipset, which BenQ claims will make it suitable for gamers and people interested in graphics. Other features for multimedia users include a built-in DVD re-writer, and an AV integration interface, the Q-Media Bar, which allows users to access software services and create and edit video, photographs and music.

BenQ is positioning the Joybook 5100 as part of its “digital hub” strategy, which sees digital peripheral devices such as cameras and MP3 players being linked to the notebook. “The Joybook 5100 raises the bar in combining the latest wireless technology and AV functionality in a notebook platform,” said Robert Dung, managing director, BenQ Middle East. “It forms a vital part of our digital hub strategy. The wireless connectivity means you can take the hub wherever you go,” he added.

The 5100 also comes with a 40GB hard disk, 512MB DDR memory and a 15-inch TFT LVD screen.
