Epson targets stay at home movie buffs

Epson is aiming to grab a greater share of the region’s home theatre market with the launch of the EMP-TW10H projector, which it claims brings the excitement of big screen sport and entertainment to the home.

"Home entertainment is a market segment that is growing exponentially in the Middle East, driven by high net worth individuals with elegant lifestyles," said Khalil El Dalu, general manager, Epson Middle East. "Watching major sporting events or blockbuster movies on the small screen does not deliver the same impact as enjoying them on a large screen. The other alternative is to watch these spectacles within the comfort of one’s home through projectors like the Epson EMP-TW10H, a remarkable product that eliminates many of the limitations of ordinary projectors."

Epson’s upgraded projector, known previously as the EMP-TW10H, features an increased brightness rating of 1200 ANSI lumens (previously 1000 ANSI lumens) and an improved contrast ratio of 800:1 (up from 700:1). Epson has included its proprietary Automatic Cinema Filter to enhance black levels and help create bright and vibrant images, in addition to incorporating its now standard 3 LCD projection system. The EMP-TW10H includes four pre-set colour modes including Theatre, Theatre Black, Living Room and Dynamic for high picture quality under ambient light.

Users with particularly huge living rooms may be impressed by the model’s maximum 7.62 metre image size, while those with more compact viewing areas can use the 1.54x optical zoom lens to view a 2.03 metre diagonal image from just two metres away. The EMP-TW10H can be hooked up to existing video and audio entertainment equipment including televisions, DVD players, video recorders and games consoles, as well as supporting PAL, NTSC and SECAM for use with different media systems. The EMP-TW10H costs $$1070.

Epson has been busy upgrading and expanding its projector range recently, having launched five new multimedia projectors aimed at the education and business sectors just last month. The firm chose the Institut Lumiere in Lyon, France (regarded by many as the birthplace of modern cinematography) to give press from around the world an in-depth look at its new models, as well as reconfirming its commitment to LCD imaging technology and detailing its plans for further expansion in the home and business projector markets.
