Gulf Air and EgyptAir have agreed an alliance to enhance their services within and outwith the region, as well as back office co-operation.
Gulf Air and EgyptAir have agreed a strategic alliance to enhance their services within and outwith the region, as well as back office co-operation. The deal covers a range of areas including jointly operated services, marketing and sales, flight scheduling, cargo, technical services in foreign stations, the leasing of aircraft and frequent flyer services.
The co-operation will begin with codeshare flights connecting Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Muscat with Cairo and Alexandria. Services to tourist destinations in Egypt such as Sham-El-Sheikh and Hurgada will also be included in the initial deal. With the commencement of the winter schedule this co-operation will be extended to flights further afield, including Cairo-Bahrain-Sydney.
The agreement will allow passengers holding tickets of either carrier to travel on the flights of the other airline. It will also facilitate increased frequencies and services, which will especially benefit business travellers. The two airlines are also planning to link other points within their networks either through codeshare deals or through coordination of the flight schedules to enable convenient and easy connections.
