US Robotics claims to have surpassed previous ‘wireless g’ speeds with its new accelerator enhancement, which it claims boosts wireless data transfer rates by 25%. The company reckons its latest firmware upgrade and driver update can improve wireless bandwidth performance from 100Mbps, traditionally the maximum data transfer rate for ‘g’ standard wireless products, up to a speedier 125Mbps.
The new technology is now available with all new US Robotics 802.11g Wireless Turbo products, while existing 100Mbps customers can soup up their devices via a free download US Robotics’ web site.
"The free upgrade available to existing 100Mbps customers will further strengthen US Robotics’ relationship with its customers," said Yusuf Syed, regional manager Middle East, US Robotics, "as well as increasing the already significant demand for its wireless products."
US Robotics’ Turbo product line is built around the firm’s proprietary 802.11g Accelerator Technology and silicon chip technology from Texas Instruments. It uses packet aggregation coupled with frame bursting technology to improve network efficiency and boost performance without channel bonding. In order to best maximise network capacity, US Robotics situates all different speed wireless devices on a single channel, which it claims enables faster file transfers between multiple network users.
