Genius Computer Technology is pitching for a greater share of the home entertainment market with the launch of two new surround sound and TV products.
The firm today unveiled its TVB-S201 Pro TV/Video box with which users can watch TV on either a TFT, LCD or CRT PC monitor, and its first 5.1 surround sound headphone set, named the HP-5.1V.
"The TVB-S201 includes great features that only high-quality TVs can provide," said Jihad Youssef, director of sales and marketing, GCT. "The multi-language on-screen display (OSD) can guide you through all its functions. It also has a convenient sleep mode and allows up to nine TV channel previews."
As for the company’s first venture into the surround sound headphone market, Youssef explained: "Just connect the headphones to the included switching box, and you can select stereo mode for general CD, FM, MP3 music, or 5.1 mode for DVD players (these must have a DVD decoder) or a PC’s 5.1 sound card."
Genius TVB-S201 Pro is being billed as "the ideal medium to watch TV or video on your monitor" and features a PIP (picture in picture) re-sizing feature, meaning users can work on their PC while watching TV or video programs at the same time. The TVB-S201 Pro can also be connected to a DVD player, VCD player, camcorder or video game.
Genius' TVB-S201 headphones meanwhile have been designed to suit users who want to enjoy the full DVD movie experience without disturbing their neighbours. The HP-5.1V’s audio is reproduced by eight built-in driver units with separate front, rear and centre channels.
Genius’ TVB-S201 PRO TV and video box costs $120, while the firm's surround sound HP-5.1V headphones are set to retail for $52.
