Nortel Networks plans to introduce a preferred software membership programme that gives customers access to future software releases to enable Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) applications. The programme will go live in September.

It is designed to help keep customers current and to simplify management of software upgrade purchase decisions as they move to SIP-based applications.

It offers a level, predictable, pricing model to maintain a network on the most current software release, providing a platform to deploy new technologies and applications as they become available.

Customers who participate in the Preferred Software Membership programme can upgrade to current software on their Nortel Networks enterprise multimedia platforms via an authorised Nortel Networks distribution partner and secure future software releases at a pre-determined fixed rate for a period ranging from one to three years.

The programme is available through Nortel Networks Authorised Partners and
may be incorporated as part of an overall partner service offering.

“The software content of networking solutions is increasing steadily. Nortel Networks enterprise customers are able to realise the benefits of multimedia applications, enhanced mobile working and network cost savings by simply upgrading their existing systems,” says Paul Templeton, vice president of Enterprise Solutions.

“Preferred Software Membership is being introduced to enable customers to cost effectively maintain the latest release of software and therefore more easily take advantage of these benefits,” he adds.
