Epson launches new all-in-one photo printer

Epson is aiming to impress photo enthusiasts across the Middle East with the launch of its Stylus Photo RX500 home printer.

Epson is aiming to impress photo enthusiasts across the Middle East with the launch of its Stylus Photo RX500 home printer.

The company claims the RX500 is the first all-in-one home photo-printer to offer scan, copy and print functions from digital or analogue photo collections.

The new device is aimed at semi-professional photographers and home users with a keen interest in photo imaging. “The RX500 is a versatile space-saving machine with dynamic features,” said Khalil El-Dalu, general manager of Epson Middle East. “It offers a chance for photo enthusiasts to derive maximum benefit from high technology and produce stunning photographs, achieving results comparable with a professional photo lab.”

The RX500 uses a 6-colour, separate ink cartridge system to offer an Epson quoted resolution of 5760x1440dpi. In a market first for the company, the new machine also includes an integrated transparency unit and a scanner for high-resolution photo and film scanning.

Epson claims the RX500 can restore faded photographs and damaged negatives, with the resulting images then able to be stored and shared by scanning direct to memory cards including the new xD format. The RX500’s standalone copy function meanwhile has a quoted maximum resolution of 1440dpi.
