HP launches new multi-function machines

HP has expanded its range of multi-function devices (MFDs) with the launch of seven new Officejet and LaserJet models.

HP has expanded its range of multi-function devices (MFDs) with the launch of seven new Officejet and LaserJet models.

MFDs, devices that combine print, copy, scan and fax functions are becoming more popular as businesses cotton on to the cost savings they offer. HP executives cited research from analyst house Gartner Group, which estimates that businesses can lower their maintenance costs by up to 30% as well as reducing supply costs and saving time by using MFDs.

“Improving efficiency is a priority for successful businesses in the Middle East, regardless of their size. This is a real opportunity for cost-sensitive businesses to reap the benefits of consolidated workflows, reduced costs and increased productivity,” says Amr Hassan, General Manager, Imaging and Printing Group, HP Middle East. “For functionality, price and competitiveness, the new range of all-in-ones delivers tailored solutions to businesses of any size, from micro businesses to enterprise.”

The company’s new Officejet 9100 series has been designed for groups of up to 15 users, such as small businesses and company departments. Incorporating 9100, 9120 and 9130 models, this colour range offers print speeds of up to 25ppm (pages per minute), the ability to print directly from memory cards, internal network cards (9120 & 9130 models only), and digital capabilities so that completed scans can be sent by email.

HP’s new LaserJet units start with the 3015, aimed at small business users who require laser print speeds but are on a tight budget. This sheet-fed model prints up to 14ppm at 1200dpi and with 32MB of memory can store 110 pages of faxed documents. The LaserJet 3020 and 3030 meanwhile are flatbed units (meaning they can copy books, magazines etc. rather than just single sheets of paper). The 3020 can print, scan, and copy while the 3030 adds fax too. At the higher end comes the 3380, which can print faster at up to 19ppm and scan documents at 9600dpi.
