Siemens extends smartphone range

Siemens has added to its smartphone lineup with the launch of the SX1 model, which it is pitching at the entertainment and corporate market alike.

Siemens has added to its smartphone lineup with the launch of the SX1 model, which it is pitching at the entertainment and corporate market alike.

The company said the SX1 is designed for broad appeal and it certainly tries to live up to that tag. The SX1 comes with a camcorder and video player as well as more business-oriented features, such as remote synchronisation of calendar entries, addresses, tasks and notes, and internet and e-mail.

Depending on availability within a network, the busy executive on the move can use the SX1 for downloading mapping and directions, traffic information, e-mail access and, for later on in the day, sports news, and restaurant and movie guides.

On the entertainment front, as well as the video player and camcorder it comes with a music player and FM radio and a multi-player games features via Bluetooth.

“The SX1 begins the long promised integration of voice, data and entertainment,” said Asim Sukhera, vice president of Siemens Mobile Phones, MEA. “With 3G just around the corner in many Middle East markets, this model provides users with the first taste of the evolution of mobile telecommunications.
