BenQ expands LCD line-up

BenQ will extend its range of LCD TVs available in the Middle East, the company said this week.

BenQ will extend its range of LCD TVs available in the Middle East, the company said this week. It plans to introduce three new models – a 26-inch, 30-inch and a whopping 46-incher - to sit alongside its existing range.

The company currently offers two models for the Middle East, the Q150 and H200 LCD TV, and claims that sales for both models have been strong. The Q150 features a 15-inch screen, and can be used as a monitor. The H200 is a 20-inch model.

“Since launching the Q150 and H200 in the region, we have enjoyed strong demand from consumers wanting to equip their homes with the most up-to-date and innovative technology,” said Robert Dung, managing director for BenQ Middle East. “Looking to the future, we have recognised an emerging trend for even bigger screen LCD TVs. Because we aim to continue growing our business at a rapid rate, we will be fulfilling the market’s needs by introducing a new line of larger-than-ever-before LCD TVs.”

The new models were recently unveiled in Taiwan, and the company said all three will be made available in the region this year. “By the end of 2004, we expect that large screen LCD TVs will have reached mainstream consumers,” said Dung. “To prepare for this demand, we are readying ourselves to introduce these new large-screen models to the Middle East.”

Other manufacturers are also tipping this year as the breakthrough year for LCD TV adoption in the Middle East. Improvements in the technology, such as better pixel response rate, have made it more competitive in performance, and a number of companies are launching large-screen models in the region this year.
