Drake Electronics has won an order from Dubai TV for a 4000 Series II matrix to be installed in their main studio complex. Dubai TV, a Drake user for over 10 years, has purchased the new 4000 Series II system as part of a major upgrade programme for the Dubai studio complex. The new system has a 128 port Digital Matrix with full redundancy, including crosspoints. Drake claims to be the only talkback manufacturer who can provide this feature.

Dubai TV has also decided to deploy over 80 rack mount and desktop panels, 73 of which are Drake's new refresh range of intelligent panels with vacuum fluorescent displays.

FreeSpeak, Drake's license free, Digital Wireless intercom has also been included as an integral part of this upgrade. FreeSpeak - a fully integrated, digital, duplex, cellular, wireless user panel - fits easily into s pocket and allows staff to move freely around the studio floor or outside set while remaining in constant communication with all personnel.

Installation and engineering support for the new system will be provided by Salam Technical Services, Drake's local representatives in Dubai.

When any key component such as an intercom system is ordered, a major concern for the user is customer support," says Maurice de Jonghe, customer support director for Drake. "As part of this package, Dubai TV will also receive 24 x 7 telephone user support in addition to Drake's standard warranty. This new service was launched at IBC 2003," he added.
