Aptec Components has been appointed as Sapphire Technology's distributor for the Middle East. Under the terms of the deal, the new Aptec business unit will distribute Sapphire's ATI-powered graphics solutions throughout the region as it looks to grow both its own and the vendors market share in the graphics and multimedia sector.

"Aptec's exceptional regional coverage and extensive customer base in the METACIS region will really help us to develop our market share throughout this very important and emerging area of the world," says Brian Skelton, worldwide director of marketing for Sapphire Technology.

"We expect to sell a good balance of our high performance multimedia products as well as our cost effective graphics accelerator solutions for systems integrators," he adds.

Stocking shipments of Sapphire's range of graphics accelerators have already arrived in the region and Aptec Component's is already targeting resellers and systems integrators throughout the region. The ATI-powered solutions dovetail nicely with the new business unit's existing product line and will assist Aptec Components in its aim to become Middle East PC assembler's distributor of choice.

"Our vision and strategy is to provide PC assemblers and system builders with a one-stop-shop for complete range of IT components," says Mario Veljovic, business unit manager for components at Aptec.

"All products will be sourced from the best manufacturers in each product category. Sapphire is our partner of choice for the graphics accelerator segment and we are very excited to start the distribution," he adds.
