Region's first PDA summit in December

The first ever summit dedicated to Palm, PDA, Pocket PC, Tablet PC and handheld computing devices will take place in Dubai on the 9th and 10th of December.

The first ever summit dedicated to Palm, PDA, Pocket PC, Tablet PC and handheld computing devices will take place in Dubai on the 9th and 10th of December.

The trade show will hear from 22 keynote speakers who will focus on topics such as the future of enterprise mobility, software tools, M-government and Wi-Fi deployment. The conference is open to both trade and public alike and will also feature a number of workshops, including one by Intel that will focus on software development.

"The summit was created in response to the long-felt need in the region to have an event exclusively addressing mobile technologies," said Katia Tayar, president and CEO of the event organisers, Arabcom group.

HP's general manager for Personal Systems Group, Christoph Schell, welcomed the announcement of the summit but warned that mobility infrastructure is one of the key topics that he is looking to be addressed.

"For the Middle East we see a lot of growth, but you have to separate the consumer from the business user. At a consumer level, we see a big convergence between the PDA and mobile while on the business side, there are many security challenges being addressed," added Schell.

"There are a lot of small companies in DIC that are developing solutions for the mobile arena and this will be a great opportunity for them," added Stuart Maughan, general manager of PalmOne Middle East.
