Kuwait International Airport is installing a public hotspot to provide travellers with wireless internet access. During the first phase of the project, five connection points will be deployed to cover the arrival & departure lounges, as well as the food courts.
Through the service, users with Centrino laptops, PCMCIA wireless connection or other wireless equipment will be able to check their e-mail, browse the web and access corporate applications held on their company's servers.
According to Dr Hussein Al-Sayegh, deputy chairman & CEO of United Projects Company, which manages the various buildings at Kuwait International Airport, the implementation of a public hotspot not only enhances the airport's service offering, but also reinforces its dedication to the latest technology.
"We are always keen to offer passengers using Kuwait International Airport the latest technologies the market has to offer, thus providing them with the best comforts that suit their needs," he says.
The implementation is being carried out by Al Alamiah Computer Systems, which has partnered with Intel to roll out the solution in accordance with its standards and specifications. "It is for this reason that we have chosen Al Alamiah Computer Systems to execute this project," says Al-Sayegh.
Once the initial five-point hotspot implementation is complete, Kuwait International Airport intends to expand its coverage area. However, details of the expansion have yet to be unveiled.
