Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, CEO of B2B trading hub Tejari, has been proselytising to US business leaders about the merits of trading with the Middle East. Sheikha Al Qasimi gave a keynote address at a business event in Kentucky, US, in which she gave a personal message about how recent events have affected the Muslim world.

Sheikha Al Qasimi was the keynote speaker at the recent annual World Trade Day in Louisville, Kentucky. Although more famous for a brand of fast food, Kentucky is in fact the sixth largest US state for overseas business with imports and exports totaling over $20 billion last year. Delegates from over 20 nations across the globe attended the event, meeting with over 400 business leaders.

“At a time when there are many misunderstandings within American society about the nature of the Arab world, it is important that those of us who have the opportunity to speak with US leaders make our voices heard, and be clear about the advantages that our culture and traditions bring,” she said.

Tejari’s leader was also the guest of honour at a meeting of prominent Kentucky businesswomen, in which she countered misunderstandings about the limited role of Arab women in the Middle East, drawing on her own experience as head of the Middle East’s premier business-to-business marketplace.
