Dell has hosted a day long seminar in the UAE showcasing the company and its partners’ products and emphasising the need for businesses in the region to provide efficient servers and storage solutions.
Part of Dell’s ‘Consolidation & Business Continuity Roadshow’ the seminar showcased a series of talks by Dell and its enterprise partners—including amongst others EMC and Microsoft.
With IT departments these days constantly under pressure to reduce costs and optimise the productivity of systems and resources, the seminar was aimed to help attendees identify opportunities that could lead to increased efficiency, productivity and cost saving, as Michael Collins, general manager Dell Computers Middle East and Gulf explained.
“It’s a simple matter of cause and effect. Old systems cost money, every minute of every hour. The question is can businesses afford to keep these old systems running? Well if the answer is ‘no’ then this seminar will clearly help forward thinking businesses enjoy cost-effective solutions while getting the most efficiency out of their infrastructures,” said Collins.
Attendees of the roadshow heard talks on how they could enjoy a number of low cost high-productivity benefits such as a lower total cost of ownership; increased return on investment; optimised systems performance and uptime; more productive management capabilities through reduced complexity; and peace of mind with high availability, back up and disaster recovery systems.
Qais Gharaibeh, sales manager for EMC presenting the need to move to network storage, said businesses could be more hurt by choosing to put off updating their storage systems.
“When network storage reaches near capacity on a network, this in turn forces the company to buy new disks or look for extra storage, but this isn’t the way things should be run.
“Better network storage management improves efficiencies, it offers investment protection, it allows companies to identify the right server size for the expected growth of the company and in turn means as your business grows you have the storage you need right there at your disposal. EMC’s partnership with Dell on systems such as the CX range guarantees you this,” commented Gharaibeh.
