Western Digital opens distribution centre in the Middle East
The vendor's JAFZA investment cuts the time taken to deliver its products across the region by 75%.
Western Digital has opened a distribution centre in Jebel Ali Free Zone to ensure the rapid delivery of its products throughout the region. The distribution centre will streamline the supply of products from the vendor to its distributors.
“By investing in this facility, we have been able to cut our delivery time to distributors significantly, which means customers will be able to get their products in about one quarter of the time that it used to take,” says Floris van Tol, operations director, Western Digital EMEA. “By speeding up the supply, Western Digital is better serving customers and enabling more extensive, flexible distribution of its products across the region,” he adds.
The opening of the distribution centre increases the efficiency of shipping Western Digital goods from its manufacturing base at the Sungei Way Free Trade Zone, Petaling Jaya, outside Kuala Lumpur to Jebel Ali Free Zone. By shipping all the products together to the new facility in Dubai, the hard drive vendor has put in place a more flexible distribution system to meet the changing needs of its distributors.
“The new distribution centre allows for us to have faster access to Western Digital’s extensive range of products, boosting our own time to market and enhancing service levels for end-users. Western Digital’s investment in a regional distribution centre sends a strong message of commitment to the Middle East marketplace,” van Tol adds.
