New Holiday Inn to open in Jordan

The InterContinental Hotels Group is to manage a new Holiday Inn in Jordan, slated to open in 2006.

The InterContinental Hotels Group will manage a new Holiday Inn resort in Jordan.The hotel chain has signed a management contract with Jordan’s Social Security Corporation for the 420-room Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea. This will become the group’s sixth property in the kingdom.

The hotel, offering mid scale accommodation in keeping with Holiday Inn standards, is slated for a 2006 opening; construction is expected to start by the end of this year or early next year. The hotel, which is to be built on a 70,000 sq m site, will have facilities like meeting and conference rooms, a grand ballroom, swimming pools, health spa, tennis courts, restaurants and a children’s play area.

“The agreement means that will be providing an even greater choice of accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes in Jordan,” said Chris Moloney, chief operating officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, Middle East & Africa. “This addition to our portfolio means that we will be offering almost 2,000 rooms in the country. We are committed to using our global network to promote Jordan as a travel destination.”

Already in Jordan, InterContinental Hotels Group manages the InterContinental Jordan, the Crowne Plaza Resort Petra, the Amra Crowne Plaza Amman and the Holiday Inn Amman.
