HP unveils projector range for Middle East market

HP has unveiled a range of projectors in the Middle East to address the needs of different business users.

HP has entered the projector market in the Middle East with the introduction of a range of new projectors to cater to different user profiles. The five models include the sb21, xb31, iPAQ MP4800, iPAQ MP3800 and iPAQ MP1200.

The HP digital and IPAQ projectors are primarily designed for mobile professionals who need to make multi-media and graphics-intensive presentations. HP has paid special attention to keeping the projectors light-weight to ensure easy mobility.

Star of the lot is the sb21 ($2327), a value projector for the mobile business executive. It weighs 1kg and is the size of an A5 sheet of paper. The other new model is the xb31 ($3734), which, like the sb21, has a high contrast ratio of 1800:1. Other models of interest include the high-end mobile projector MP3800 ($3626) and the MP4800 ($4005) — a 2.6 kg, high-performance projector meant ideally for an office conference room. All the above mentioned projectors use DLP technology, which is said to be a better projector technology than the current popular LCD format.

One projector that is likely to grab the interest of home users is HP’s MP1200, the only one in the range that uses LCD technology. The MP 1200 can be used both, at home and at the office. It weighs 3kg, offers a resolution of upto 1024x768, has a contrast ratio of 400:1 and is the cheapest in the HP range at $2164. “More users today are using a projector in their homes to watch movies on big screen,” commneted Oliveier Evain, commercial business manager, imaging and printing group, HP Middle East. “And the prices have been reduced so much that it has become affordable. All our projectors are being offered in the region at discounted prixes,” he added.
