OUIC deploys Premia
Oman United Insurance Company (OUIC) has deployed ICICI Infotech’s Premia enterprise information application to boost customer service levels and streamline its supply chain.
Oman United Insurance Company (OUIC) has deployed ICICI Infotech’s Premia enterprise information application to boost customer service levels and streamline its supply chain. Live since June last year, the company is already looking to leverage on the initial deployment by running the solution over Citrix’s thin client software.
“We are currently looking to connect our remote users to the solution by deploying Citrix. This will run from a Windows 2000 server and we should have 40 users up and running on Citrix by the end of the year. After that we will increase the number to 65,” says Sunni Aburish, group IT manager for OUIC.
Premia was originally installed to replace the insurance firm’s aging legacy application, which was unable to provide OUIC with the functionality it required as the company grew. “We had to write off our old application because it was incomplete and could not meet our needs,” comments Aburish.
“Therefore, we were looking for an advanced, flexible, easy-to-operate and powerful internet-enabled solution that would enable us to enhance our service to the customer [and] provide them with timely and efficient service. After an extensive selection process, Premia was chosen because it was capable of meeting our immediate and future business requirements,” he explains.
Because Premia is an Oracle based application, the implementation was relatively painless and a combination of ICICI Infotech’s consultants and OUIC’s in house IT team of six deployed the solution in around five months.
“We wanted a solution that was Oracle based because we are, essentially, an Oracle house — we have the required expertise on it and we could support it immediately. Also, because we had the required skills, the implementation was quick — we started in June 2001 and went live in November 2001,” explains Aburish.
