DLC wheels out new OB van
New four-camera, 8.5 metre vehicle will be available for use around the region.
Dubai-based hire company The Definitive Laser Company (DLC) has unveiled a new, fully equipped outside broadcast vehicle for use across the region. The four camera, 8.5 metre vehicle, nicknamed ‘Moby’ by the team, is based around a Sony digital triax system and houses a MSU 700 master set up, DVS-2000C video switcher and CNU 500 camera network unit alongside a live English/Arabic character generator from Inscriber. All cameras on board are Sony BVP-E10PH/U ‘x-wave’ digital machines fitted with Fujinon lenses.
“The market is growing at an incredible rate,” says Andy Wheeler, technical director, DLC. “With satellite television there are thousands of channels around and we hope the new vehicle will bolster broadcaster’s outside broadcast requirements. There are a number of high profile events coming up such as the shopping festival and the gold cup and we hope to encourage stations to outsource for such events rather than spending millions in-house.” According to Wheeler the vehicle will not solely be used for professional broadcast purposes with conferences, concerts and even large weddings also being targeted “This is a very versatile unit,” he says. “It is equipped for professional broadcast but can be used to cover just about any event.”
The vehicle will make its debut later this month providing pictures for Dubai Television’s coverage of the Dubai Shopping Festival.
