Avaya lays foundations for Knowledge Village
Continuing its partnership with Dubai Internet City, Avaya will provide both copper and fibre cabling to the free zone's learning hub, Knowledge Village.
With Dubai’s Knowledge Village set to open up in the second quarter of next year, Avaya is laying the groundwork — in the shape of its Systimax cabling solutions — for the IT infrastructure that will be fundamental to the learning hub.
Avaya is delivering over 19,000 information outlets and installing more than 1100 km of its Systimax GigaSPEED XL copper cabling and seven km of its multi modal fibre LazrSPEED solution. The cabling project, which is scheduled for completion by the end of next month, will provide the communications infrastructure throughout the one million square feet development.
“Our partnership with Avaya has helped us build a next-generation infrastructure that now serves the most demanding needs of global and regional information & communication technology (ICT) companies. As Dubai Internet City (DIC) grows, Avaya’s expertise is enabling us to provide a robust foundation for our new initiatives,” says Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, CEO of DIC.
“Knowledge Village, our latest initiative, is aimed at enhancing our human capital as part of our efforts to transform our society into a knowledgeable hub,” he adds.
Although Avaya has been involved in the consultation and design phases of the Knowledge Village project, the vendor will be enlisting the skills of one of its local partners to carry out the actual installation of the solution.
“In terms of the design and capacity planning that is a direct feature of Avaya’s relationship with DIC. In terms of the installation that will be tendered to Avaya’s business partners and the actual installation will take place via a business partner, explains Martin Hennessey, sales director, connectivity solutions, Avaya, Middle East, North Africa, Turkey & Greece.
