Avaya has opened a US$250,000 Systimax connectivity solutions centre in Dubai Internet City (DIC). The networking vendor will use the centre to showcase its range of cabling products.
“This facility... enables us to demonstrate the difference in speed, throughput, bandwidth of different solution sets,” says Dieter Bodingbauer, managing director connectivity solutions, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa, Avaya.
“Customers will be able to make an informed decision as to which solution best fits their business requirements, not only today but also in the future. In addition, the centre will help illustrate the often overlooked, but important criteria of application delivery quality,” he adds.
Alongside the opening of the solutions centre, Avaya also announced it would be providing the cabling infrastructure for DIC’s latest initiative — Knowledge Village. Avaya has already provided the cabling infrastructure for DIC’s other buildings.
“Our partnership with Avaya has helped us build a next-generation infrastructure that now serves the most demanding needs of global and regional information and communication technology (ICT) companies,” says Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, CEO of DIC.
“As Dubai Internet City grows, Avaya’s expertise is enabling us to provide a robust foundation for our new initiatives. The opening of the Systimax solutions centre today further strengthens our partnership with Avaya,” he adds.
The one million square feet Knowledge Village development will be home to a media academy, an innovation centre, e-learning institutions, graduate and post-graduate educational facilities, research & development organisations, corporate training entities, scientific and technology institutes, certification and testing organisations and incubators.
Located adjacent to DIC, Knowledge Village is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2003.
The communications infrastructure to be implemented by Avaya will comprise 19,300 information outlets connected by more than 1,100 km of Systimax GigaSpeed XL copper cabling solution and seven kilometres of multi-modal fibre solution, Avaya’s LazrSpeed, which supports 10G/bit/s performance up to a distance of 300 metres.
