Jordan’s Ministry of Tourism takes services to the internet

Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities partners with local development firm Eskadenia to develop range of web services.

Jordan’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is attempting to win holiday makers to the Kingdom via the web. As part of a broad e-government strategy, the ministry has launched a web site — www.tourism.jo — that offers information on a number of tourist destinations within Jordan.

The site also offers a number of procedural e-services including e-licensing procedures for hotels, travel agencies and tourist guides.

“The site can be considered an encyclopaedia about tourism in Jordan,” says His Excellency, Dr. Taleb El Rifai, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.

“It is advanced and informative for the visitor. It also includes information about the Ministry's services, departments, functionality and the Ministry's Associations. We are proud to be one of the first ministries to provide informative e-services, which serve customers and citizens, and we look forward to finalising true transactional e-services in the near future,” he adds.

Visitors to the site can send further inquiries or suggestions to the ministry, through the site’s hotline contact services.

The web site has been developed by local company, Eskadenia.
