Moussa to attend Arab ICT Summit

Secretary General of the Arab League confirms attendance at an event that aims to address the challenges facing the ICT sector in the Arab world.

Amr Moussa, secretary general of the Arab League, has confirmed his participation in the Arab ICT Summit, which takes place in Dubai on October 12.

The Arab ICT Summit, held under the auspices of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, will bring together ministers, government officials and business leaders from the Arab World’s information & communications technology (ICT) sector for a day long summit.

The event aims to reach agreement on how to accelerate the ICT sector’s development in the Arab world.

“ICT is the way forward for the modern Arab World,” said Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Dubai Internet City (DIC) said, As a region, we missed out on the Industrial Revolution. We must not let the ICT Revolution pass us by.”

The Summit will feature 19 speakers from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Syria. They will provide an overview on the ICT sector in the Arab world and try to offer practical, real world solutions to the problems confronting the region’s ICT industry.

“Officials from all over the Arab World are taking part in this summit with a view to pushing the region forward through the development of ICT. It is imperative we work together politically to ensure the success of this venture,” said His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Blouchi, general manager of Emirates Media Inc, a Summit partner.
