Blue Order to manage content at RTV Dubai

The Dubai Department of Information has awarded a US$6.4 million contract to Blue Order to implement a digital archive management system for the public radio and television station RTV Dubai.

The Dubai Department of Information has awarded a US$6.4 million contract to Blue Order to implement a digital archive management system for the public radio and television station RTV Dubai.

Blue Order's Media Archive Enterprise Media Management platform shall form the core of the digital archive project, designed to provide RTV Dubai with sophisticated cataloguing and management of new and existing video and audio material. By introducing an enterprise-level media asset management (MAM) system at RTV Dubai, the Department of Information intends to improve both the operational efficiency of the state broadcaster and the quality of programmes it transmits.

Media Archive will act as the central repository for storing all the media assets of RTV Dubai, these being the live ingestion of video feeds, the capture of content presently stored on tape and the import of audio files from RTV's existing computer-aided radio system. Media Archive will allow authorised users throughout the organisation to access all of these media assets, so reducing manual handling of media and facilitating re-use of content.

Working with prime contractors Bertelsmann Arvato Middle East Sales FZE, Blue Order is responsible for supplying the MAM portion of the system. Another key player in this deal is the Bertelsmann company Empolis GmbH, a search engine and data modelling specialist, that has integrated its Orenge/k42 intelligent information retrieval technology with Blue Order's Media Archive platform to provide advanced searching of more than 50 terabytes of online and nearline storage. It is anticipated that as the library grows, the storage capacity may be expanded to over 200 terabytes.
