Canon is turning out in force for Gitex 2002 to target potential customers for its digital copier technologies. The vendor’s office automation and document management solutions have witnessed significant growth in the last two years.

Taking pride of place on the stand is the vendor’s iR-i series of web-enabled digital copiers.

According to Canon, the iR-i family of copiers increases the efficiency of the office environment through the simplification of document handling.

The iR-i machines enable operators to send documents over the internet, archive them in a database, fax them or make hard copies all from the same device.

Showcased in parallel will be the vendor’s bubble jet printers, flatbed scanners, projectors and wide-format printers/plotters. Canon’s SmartBase multifunctional devices are also due to make their show debut. The machines combine full colour scanning, printing, copying and fax capability in a single unit.

Photographers ambling around the show will not be disappointed, as Canon is displaying a full range of digital cameras and camcorders. Kit on show includes the digital Ixus product family and the high end Canon EOS 1D SLR.

Visitors will also be treated to demonstrations of Canon’s direct to print technology, where the camera can be hooked straight into the printer to produce images.
